Elmham Knit and Natter - March 2016

Posted in General News

The Big C unit attached to the N & N hospital, have asked us for knitted "Beanie" hats, so at our February meeting, 22 Beanie hats arrived on the table, all sizes, lovely patterns and colours. When next someone goes up to the hospital, these will be put into a basket in the lounge at the unit, and people who are suffering from hair loss during their cancer treatment, can choose a warm comforting hat made with love and care from the basket. This project, in itself, seems to symbolize what our group is about more than any words can say.
We had two visitors at our last meeting. Jenny came to tell us that our parcels of warm clothing and knitted toys, has been received with many grateful thanks by the refugees who had arrived, with nothing, on the Greek island Simi, after a terrifying journey across the water.
Nearer to home, Helen popped in to ask us if we could in any way help out on their open day for the NE play group, to be held on Saturday March 19th.
So we had a lot to natter about, and I hadn't even started to gather in all the little Easter chicks, we are busy making for the children's ward, or the beautiful soft blankets for the prem baby ward. If anyone is going to the Hospital, and feel that they could deliver these items, it would be a great help to me if they got in touch.
I will take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all our knitters for the enthusiasm and good will they bring to each meeting. Long may it continue. Our next meeting is on Tuesday March 8th in the Tea Post, as usual 2-00 til 4-00.
Carry on knitting,
