The men's section of the RBL met at the Kings Head on Thursday 4th February at 20.00 hrs with ten members present. Our Chairman Mr Bryan Tidnam gave the loyal toast, and apologies were given for absent members, Mr Bill Truman and Mr and Mrs Pointer from the motor bike section.
Correspondence was read. The main topic was that the Reepham and Cawston branch is very near to closing and would like to become a sub branch of one of the closer branches to it.
Members felt that having done this with Lyng we would like to invite a member of their branch to our next meeting on 7th April to discuss it in more detail.
Mr David Green presented a statement on the Poppy Appeal and said it was the best Elmham and District had ever achieved. In 2014 it had raised £4713.96 and so far the total is £ 5038.32 as of 1st January 2016.
He also said that Mr Carl Bean and Mr Ian Taylor would be running the 2016 Poppy Appeal.
Members thanked David for his work over the past years and said they would help Carl and Ian settle into this new venture this year.
The Chairman gave a report on the outcome of the Parish Council meeting with reference to two planters
beside the seat near Cathedral Drive. He said as the seat is on Highways land we would have to get in
touch with them. He will explain more at the next meeting.
The meeting closed at 2130 hrs and the next meeting will be on Thursday 7th April at 2000 hrs.
The next 'Old Comrades night will take place on October 21st and the entertainment will be from 'The Old
Farts' from Hingham. Hope to see you all on this date. We will have the usual Buffet and Bar.
