F O N E S Update - November 2015

Posted in General Village Interest

The children have all settled back into school nicely after the long summer break, enjoying playing on the playground markings that were put down with the help of funds from FONES before the summer holidays and its back to fundraising we go.
We held our AGM back in September whereby we saw Shelly Sinclair step down as Chair and Debbie Coull then took on this role with Nicci Andrews stepping up to Vice Chair. We also had Dawn Lake join as a new member. On behalf of the committee we would like to say a big thank you to our old Chair, Shelly Sinclair for her hard work, commitment and enthusiasm to FONES over the last academic year. We will miss you but am sure we will see you around. We would also like to thank Debbie for taking on this role, we know you are a very busy lady and appreciate your time. We look forward to some great times ahead.
Speaking of which we have nearly come to the end of our Friday afternoon ice-cream sales which again have proved to be very popular. A big thanks to parents for their support, and when we return to school after the half term we will be back to our cake baking. Gosh hasn't time gone quick! We know that there are some keen bakers out there and if anybody is interested in doing some baking, maybe a one off or every other week or whenever you can, that would help us out a great deal. We would appreciate any types of individual cakes. These could be dropped off at the school office on a Friday morning or myself or Niki Bemrose could pick these up. My number is 668866. We of course would pay back any expenses.
The money we raise through our projects goes to giving the children extra opportunities of learning and we have in the pipe line, the possibility of some outdoor activity adventures which always seems to be a big thumbs up from the children. They love nothing more than being outside. We will be having a school Christmas Pottery Event on Friday 4th in the hall and then the school disco has been well and truly booked for Friday 11th so we have lots to keep us going!!!
Finally also don't forget we have the Rag Bag just inside the school gate where you can drop of any unwanted clothes and shoes but no pillows, cushions or duvets please. The money raised from this is split between School, Playgroup and Cubs so you will be doing your bit for the village. Thank you all very much for your continued support.
