2014 has been a special one for remembering and honouring the past. The 27th of April 2014 saw the Dedication of a Memorial to the crew of a Mosquito which crashed just off Back Lane on 27th April 1944. We were delighted to meet Ian, the son of the navigator, Flt Lt John Mellar, who came from France to honour his father at the poignant and well attended ceremony.
The Royal British Legion and the Saturday Morning Club devised and executed a brilliant plan for a permanent seat, to serve as a Memorial to the fallen in World War 1, and World War ll, to be sited opposite the Surgery. The dedication of the seat was well received and a great many villagers gathered to share in the ceremony on 4th August 2014.
Christmas is also a time for remembering family and friends, and we all celebrate it in our own way. Elmham News would like to wish all our readers, a Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.
Our thanks for donations this month go to Martin Redding, Marion and Maurice Tombling, and June and Brue Webb.
