REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

It was a glorious sunny day as a splendid procession of folk marched up Church Hill towards the church to attend the annual Remembrance Sunday Service. They were led by the standard bearers of the Royal British Legion and supported by Beavers, Cubs, Guides and their parents. More members of the congregation accompanied those members of the Legion and the procession was escorted, front and rear by a strong contingent of The Saturday Morning Club on their motorbikes.

The Rector, Nicholas Varnon took the service, Mr Robin Don read out the names of the fallen in both World Wars. Bryan and Brenda Tidnam laid wreaths on behalf of the British Legion Men and Women' branches. A wreath was laid by Carl Beane on behalf of the Royal Legion Riders and the Saturday Morning Club and Norman Lowe laid a wreath on behalf of the Parish Council.

The Rector sang a moving solo based on the tale of an Australian Infantryman at Gallipoli and the lesson readers were David Green and Ian Taylor. It was good to see so many young people there with their parents for this moving service. A collection for the Poppy Appeal raised £184.30

Ed's note. It was good to see Eva there on top form especially as she had only come out of hospital the night before.
