SCHOOL NEWS - Jan 2016

Posted in School

We hope everyone had a lovely Christmas break, ready for a fresh start in 2016!

We are very pleased to be able to offer the children a different kind of After School Club this year – Young Film Makers. We hope that the uptake is enough for the Club to take place and that the children, who do take part, really enjoy it.
We are also offering Multiskills and the Claybarn Pottery as After School Clubs for the first half of this the Spring Term.
We are having a six week block of Football Sessions for our younger pupils as well as a number of School Sports Partnership events for our older pupils to participate in. We are also very proud to have pupils that have progressed to the County Cross Country Finals being held in February at Gresham’s School. We wish them Good Luck!

During February our Year 5s will be taking part in some “Hero” Training given by the Believe to Achieve Charity. We hope that this will:
- Make pupils aware of bullying
- Provide another support service in school
- Increase social inclusion
- Make children aware of victims
- Help increase academic achievement and social relationships
- Give each child an extra responsibility
- Promote self-esteem and confidence
- Develop life skills; listening skills, body language, leadership, problem solving
As this is a Peer Mentoring program, not only will it benefit those taking part in the course but also the other children that will then come into contact with our “Heroes”.

Please can we remind parents that should the worse happen and we need to close the school due to bad weather (hopefully not!) an announcement will be made on local radio and also details will be available on the Norfolk Schools Website

We break up for Half –Term on Friday 12th February 2016 and return to school on Monday 22nd February 2016.
