We have endured a harsh winter this year, with unprecedented disruption to our schooling with a closure lasting three days! Nonetheless the children have done incredibly well catching up on their work.
We have 8 children that qualified for the Norfolk County Cross Country Finals due to be held in March...so "Well Done" and "Good Luck" to them. This success comes on the back of the school's participation in the Golden Mile – a legacy from the Olympics - needless to say the children have been equally successful in this with North Elmham School being at the top of the leader board.
During March we are to have a Mothering Day Service at the Church, to which parents are to be invited, this will enable the children to show their appreciation.
We have two exciting new after school clubs planned for the children in the next half term, Fencing and Tag Rugby. This combined with the Year 5 and 6 Residential Trip to Hilltop in Sheringham means that, even though the next half term is very short, it will be very busy.
School breaks up for Easter on Wednesday 27th March 2013 and returns on Monday 15th April 2013.

The new term for students starts on 8th January 2013.
We hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and that 2013 has started well!
We are delighted to report that the fundraising non-uniform day for Children in Need collected an amazing £142.57. We have also donated £24.71 to the Royal British Legion by selling poppies around school and our Harvest Festival food donation to the Dereham Food bank fed 10 people for 3 days. We also donated a huge box filled with bags of sugar for the homeless over the Christmas period. Thank you to all the parents and children that made donations to these worthwhile causes - they are all very much appreciated.
The Friends of North Elmham School held a very successful Pottery Event in the run up to Christmas. The children had a wonderful time, really getting into the festive spirit, and hopefully there were some very happy parents and grandparents with surprising presents on the 25th!!
The New Year brings with it the prospect of lots of new adventures particularly as our older children gear up for their residential trip in March. Before that, as part of their study of Britain in the Past they will be participating in a workshop around 1950's dance, with the younger children being treated to a demonstration as well.
The school is always grateful for any willing volunteers from the village to help out in school especially if they have a particular talent that may enhance the learning experience of our children. We have used some expertise like this to make a fabulous stained glass window for our Reflection Area - Thank You Mrs Luckett. We would also like to make up a list of "bank" midday supervisors to be able to call on should our dedicated team be out ill or on training. Any volunteers would be subject to a CRB check but this would be undertaken by the school on their behalf. If anyone feels they can help please contact the school office.
School breaks up for Half Term on Friday 15th February 2013 returning on Monday 25th February 2013.

The new half term has started calmly enough but we know that as Christmas gets nearer the excitement will grow!! Our younger pupils will soon be practising their Nativity Plays ready for parents during the last week of term.
Friends of North Elmham School are in the process of organising some fun activities for the children to take part in during the run up to Christmas....we won't spoil the surprise but letters will be sent out to the children in due course.
Children, Staff and Parents took part in a Remembrance Service at North Elmham Church on 12th November led by Rev Varnon with an escort up to Church from the Standard bearer of the Royal British Legion. Thank you to everyone that took part and for the donations made to the Poppy Appeal within school.
Donations to our Sugar Collection run by BEFA are arriving thick and fast –thank you for this as every bag of sugar helps.
Building on the many after school clubs we aim to offer, the children have been given the opportunity to take part in some "Winter" ones in the form of a Cross Stitch Club for our younger pupils and Table Tennis for the older ones.
Our Year 5 and 6 Pupils took part in "The Golden Mile" run by the West Norfolk and Dereham School Sports Partnership.....an initiative brought about by the Olympics. We were delighted to have been invited and the legacy for this will be continued within the school. Our athletes have also taken part in a Tag Rugby Tournament competing well and taking part with great enthusiasm. Well Done!
The school breaks up for the Christmas Holidays on 21st December 2012 with students returning on 8th January 2013.

As we speed towards the end of yet another month many of our Year 6 pupils have been visiting prospective High Schools to make their all important choice ready for the big move next year. It seems incredible but we are also showing round parents making the choice for their little ones ready for starting in September 2013!!

Friends of North Elmham School arranged a fundraiser with Bags2Schools which we have been informed raised a wonderful £180.00. This is a brilliant amount gained by simply recycling unwanted clothes and shoes.

With Harvest Festival almost upon us we will be taking all the children up to the Church for a thanksgiving service on Thursday 25th October with parents invited to join us.

Once again we have decided to take part in the Sugar Collection run by BEFA. This will help Norfolk's own Christmas Food charity to provide for the homeless over the Christmas period. Donations of sugar can be made to the school throughout November ready for collection during the early part of December.

The children have been very fortunate so far this academic year with After School Clubs being provided for Football, Golf, K'Nex Construction and Bowls. As the weather gets more inclement we hope to be able to offer further clubs but perhaps ones that bring the children inside!!

The school breaks up for half term on 26th October with everyone returning to school on 5th November.
