Worthing Church - November 2014

Posted in Parish Matters

Our village held their traditional but simple HARVEST PRAISE SERVICE on the 12th October led by our Rector Nicholas Varnon. Our celebration included a wonderful poem by Sir John Betjeman "Diary of a Church Mouse" read by Ted Sansom, a regular service reader. The poem begins:

"Here among long-discarded cassocks,
Damp stools, and half-split open hassocks,
Here where the Vicar never looks
I nibble through old service books......"

To read further about this hungry Church Mouse (particularly during Harvest time), please go to our website where you'll read the full version of this poem about the antics of a mouse. This certainly caused a chuckle amongst the congregation! The fresh produce was then donated to the Salvation Army for distribution in Dereham to those in need locally.

St Margaret's Church,
Remembrance Sunday 9 November at 8am

This service will offer Holy Communion for those that wish to receive this.
