Victory Villages Church February 2015

Posted in Parish Matters

I was reading a true story the other day about a young girl from Africa who at the age of five had seen both her father and her mother brutally murdered before her eyes. From then on, for the next seven years, she stopped growing. Then one day the words of Jesus profoundly affected her. - ' Forgive and you will be forgiven' - Luke 6:37. Painful as it was she chose to forgive the undeserving murderers of her parents. As soon as she did this an amazing thing happened: she started growing again - physically as well as emotionally and spiritually. That is the incredible power of forgiveness.

Are we going to choose to forgive or live our lives in bitterness? They may not deserve forgiveness but holding onto bitterness makes us the victim. Lewis Smedes says 'To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.'

I am sure that we all have people to forgive and ask forgiveness of. So how about us setting some prisoners free today!
