LENT and EASTER 2016. Lent, and particularly Holy Week and Easter Sunday itself, is the most important ‘season’ of the Church Year and, as in previous years, a range of services is offered to encourage people to participate, should they wish.
A happy and peaceful Easter is our prayer for all parish residents and visitors.
SERVICE ARRANGEMENTS in 2016. The new monthly pattern of services beginning in April is experimental for the summer months and can be seen in the additional information in the services table. The times of the services have changed so that most (there will be one 8am Holy Communion in North Elmham) begin either at 9am or 10.30am. The type of service (Holy Communion, Morning Prayer or All-Age Worship) for the Elmham Group generally follows the current Sunday-by-Sunday pattern but with some adjustments.
Every effort will be made to find priests to lead Holy Communion services, particularly during the ‘interregnum’, but congregations may have to be flexible.
If experience shows that the experimental summer monthly pattern needs to be changed the churchwardens will work with Reverend Sally Kimmis to find a better pattern.
For all baptism and wedding services initial enquiries should be made to Reverend Sally Kimmis (01362) 680148. The rector will conduct funerals up to March 22nd, 2016.
PRAYER FOCUS. Those living on or near: County School and Holt Road, Pump Street, High Street and Church Lane
Prayers are offered for all in the community, but if there are any specific prayer requests, either for public or private prayer, please let the rector know. There is a ‘prayer request’ board available in the church also, and this is used by the rector when saying Morning Prayer. Prayers are offered during the course of a week, and there is a space to indicate thanks for a person’s recovery.
ECUMENICAL GROUP. On Thursday, March 3rd we shall consider the Letters of Saint Paul to the Romans. Details will be placed on the website – or contact the rector.
EASTER VESTRY and ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING. The Vestry is an open meeting for all parishioners, and the APCM is open to those on the Church Electoral Roll. The meetings will be in Saint Mary at 7.30pm on March 16th, 2016.
“CHUCH HEWMER”. The children were lined up in the school hall of a Church Primary School for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The head teacher had placed a notice on the apple tray which said: “Take only ONE. God is watching.” Moving farther along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, “Take all you want. God is watching the apples.”
